Welcome,
If you’ve landed here, you’re likely eager to start playing your favorite songs on the piano but don’t know where to begin. Don’t worry! This page is designed for anyone with no prior music experience. With my simple notes and videos, you’ll be playing songs in no time.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Understand the Layout of a Piano/Keyboard
A piano or keyboard may seem overwhelming at first, but it follows a simple, repeating pattern of white and black keys. Here’s a detailed guide to help you get familiar with the layout:
- White Keys: These represent the natural notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, B.
- Black Keys: These represent the sharps (#) and flats (♭) of the notes. They are arranged in groups of twos and threes. The pattern of white and black keys repeats every 12 keys.
- Finding Middle C: Look for the group of two black keys and find the white key immediately to the left—it’s Middle C.
2. Learn the Basics of Notes
My notes use a simple format:
- C, D, E, F, G, A, B for white keys.
- C#, D#, F#, G#, A# for black keys.
- Example: “C D E” means play those white keys in order.
